The voice journal that writes itself.
Journaling fails at the blank page, not at the feelings. Outloud is a voice journal app for iPhone: talk about your day for two minutes and keep a clean, titled, searchable entry — with the raw audio and transcript always one tap away.
Why voice journaling sticks when written journals don't
Most journals die in week two because writing is work: you sit down tired, the page is blank, and tidy sentences are the price of entry. Talking has no price of entry. You already narrate your day in your head — a voice journal just catches it. Two minutes in the car, on a walk, while the pasta boils. The entries that would never have been written get kept.
Talk messy, read clean
The catch with audio journals used to be that a pile of recordings is where memories go to be lost — unsearchable, untitled, unread. Outloud fixes exactly that: every entry comes back as a titled page with the gist in your own words, any to-dos you said out loud pulled into a checklist, and the original transcript and audio preserved untouched. Nothing is invented; uncertain words are marked rather than guessed. Later, ask your journal questions — "when did I first mention the studio idea?" — and get answers with the entries cited.
Private by design
A journal is the most honest thing you own, so the privacy model is blunt: no account, ever. Recordings stay in the app on your phone. Notes are structured by private AI over an encrypted connection — never stored on our servers, never used to train models — and one switch turns cloud processing off entirely. Your entries export any time, on any tier, and optional iCloud sync goes through your own iCloud, invisible to us.
Any language, even mixed
Journal in whatever language the day happened in. Outloud understands 100+ languages — including entries that switch languages mid-sentence — and writes the note in the language you spoke.
